Biographie
True and honest Metal Just the kind of Metal you’relooking for. Acting without any compromises, Stormhammer delivers a very diverse mixture of Hyper-Melodic, Euro style Power Metal, and US-Metal as well as a decent bite of a NWOBHM approach (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc.). There is no escape for the hooklines in these songs. The dedication and the outstanding instrumental ability of each member radiates from every song forming the typical sound of StormHammer. The core of the band first met in 1993, but the name of the band was a different one in the beginning. In 2000, the South German guys started seriously spread their compositions as StormHammer. The first album “Fireball” was recorded with Michael Schinkel (Eternal Flame) on vocals, the second album “Cold Desert Moon” with Tommy Lion (ex-Drifter). The required production crunch was present as well, courtesy of a massive mix by Rudy Kronenberger (Doro, Headhunter, Gurd, etc.) recorded at Crownhill Studios in Düsseldorf and consequently "Cold Desert Moon" and "FireBall" prove to be an extremely entertaining listen for everyone, classy Heavy Metal, full of dedication and charm. StormHammer was proudly voted as the "Newcomer of the year 2000" by the readers of German "Metal Heart“ magazine. Destroying stages, (together with Lefay, Steel Prophet and Angel Dust) StormHammer toured throughout Europe in 2002. They supported well-known band Blind Guardian in Italy, Vienna and Budapest in 2002 and also played and conquered the Blind Guardian Open Air in June 2003. With the new Drummer Chris Widmann, StormHammer recorded their third album "Lord of Darkness". It was completely produced by the band and released on Mausoleum Records May 2004. StormHammer presented their new album in spring 2005 on tour with Grave Digger. After that tour, Tommy Lion left the band. With Mike Zotter (formerly Frontman of Prog-Metal Bands Neverland and Dreamscape) took over the reign as StormHammer’s voice. The recordings for the new album “Signs of Revolution“ were finished at the beginning of 2008, completely produced by StormHammer. The Mix was done by Thomas Burlefinger, who has worked for Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Greg Bissonette (DavidLeeRoth), Dave Evans (AC/DC), Darren Wharton (Thin Lizzy), L.A. Guns, Subway to Sally. With precission, Christoph Stickel (at MSM Studio’s) München (Shakra, Seal, Gotthard, Reamonn, Bonfire uva.) did the mastering for the new album. Born of fire, the cover artwork was designed by “Stripe“ Schinzel (Agent Steel, Anvil, Hanoi Rocks, Quiet Riot, W.A.S.P. and Witchcraft). The new album “Signs Of Revolution” definately resonates as the typical sound of StormHammer. There, you can hear a development concerning the songs and the sound. This is due to the undenyable voice of Mike Zotter. New members in the band are: the lord of the keyboards -Chris Morgan (ex-Benedictum), and the lightning fast guitarist -Semih Felke. These trademarks are the reason for the name of the album because there is a growing revolution going on here. “ SIGNS OF REVOLUTION” . . . . . . . Tourdates are in works, so get ready for the StormHammer !
