The spell was cast in 2002, the need to create a grim and eerie take on black metal based on ideas of the past, but with a contemporary clenched fist. The initial incarnation of consisted of Aort and both Kvohst (now bellowing for DHG) and Cthonian (then of Reign of Erebus) sacrificing their vocal chords for the greater evil. This collaboration resulted in the ”Neurotransmissions” Promo CD which was distributed solely to labels in 2003. Spinefarm Records from Finland bit the proverbial bullet and agreements were signed in blood. The line-up for the debut album “Nouveau Gloaming” was then established, Cthonian departed leaving Kvohst as the bearer of lung based fury. Aort was joined by fellow Englishman Vyttra on guitars. To complete the line-up, two of Norway’s elite graced the album with their presence, namely Viper (alias Vicotnik from DHG and Ved Buens Ende infamy) on bass and backing grimness and AiwarikiaR (formely of Ulver) on drums. The album was recorded in the blackest winter 2003 in the depths of Finland and mixed and mastered in the summer of 2004 in Oslo. The album was finally released to much blackened rapture in May 2005. A marriage of old and new ideas, grimness in digital form, otherworldly aural coldness…music to crawl under ones skin. And then…seemingly nothing. But behind the scenes material was being furiously created, a bold new entity was being designed, taking the source of what makes unique and sharpening it’s edges and expanding it’s possibilities. The second incarnation of resulted in a change of personel…a new start. Consistencies with the past were concreted with Aort and Viper, and joining them are vocalist par-excellence ICS Vortex (of Dimmu Borgir, Arcturus and Borknagar to name but a few) and master of metal battery Adrian Erlandsson (of At The Gates, Skitsystem, Brujeria and Cradle of Filth, again to name but a few). In 2007, “Nouveau Gloaming” was exhumed from it’s digital resting place and given an analogue kiss of grim life by Necroterror Records. The album finally was comitted to vinyl featuring deluxe gatefold sleeve, all new layout and design and also in limited editions featured all manner of exclusive trappings. Which brings us to here and now, where the past becomes the present and the unknown becomes known…we are recording now, as you read this the new album is taking it’s shape, day by day, week by week…stay for the ride and find out how it all ends…
